REVIEW
What an evening of outrageous laughter, wicked parodies and biting sarcasm!
No one is safe in the new Spitting Image musical, from politicians to pop singers to some of our greatest classical actors.
The plot is pretty silly, and is all the better for it, as King Charles discovers that the fabric of the country (in this case a pair of underpants!) is being undermined by Boris and his crew.
The characters are given life by the remarkable puppeteering of the talented cast. There is a warning at the beginning about offensive language and the fact that the show “respects nothing at all”, which anyone who as ever watched Spitting Image on television will absolutely be expecting.
However, there were a few people who left during act one. I personally loved the whole show. Favourite among the songs were Vladimir Putin dancing his version of “Putting on the Ritz” and Suella Braverman, looking remarkably like something out of The Exorcist, in “Thriller”!
I was very impressed with the ridiculously hard work of the cast who never seem to stop running on and off constantly with different costumes and puppets, and the set, seamlessly changing from one location to another. It all looked deceptively simple. There is no doubt that, if you have a certain sense of humour, you will be rolling in the aisles at this show. But be warned, the language and content is not for the faint hearted!
