Inspector Morse
(Review Complete)
"Good production, but needed a bit of a polish"
I am quite partial to a “who done it” and I well remember John Thaw and Kevin Whately as the ubiquitous Morse and Lewis. So when I got the chance to see Inspector Morse - House of Ghosts on stage, I was excited. The Idea behind the story was a good one,
With Morse coming up against some of his old university colleagues when an actor dies on stage. Tom Chambers and Tachia Newall did a good job of playing Morse and Lewis with some other notable cast members, namely Teresa Banham playing Ellen and Olivia Onyehara playing Harriet.
It was a very practical set consisting of mainly furniture that was moved around entirely by the cast which made for smooth transitions from one scene to another. The construction of the play was more reminiscent of television with a number of shorter scenes and this did tend to slow up the action a little.
I also found the linking music and sound effects between the scenes very loud.
All of that said, it was an enjoyable evening and if you like a good detective story you’ll like this.
Inspector Morse -House of Ghosts is on a Milton Keynes until Saturday 21st March.
