The dancing was extremely athletic and effective with strong choreography throughout. The show was in three sections that gradually got darker and more sinister as it progressed but unfortunately, where I was sitting, I was unable to read the words projected onto the black backdrop at the start of each section as they weren’t bright enough. This left me to work out the themes and ideas for myself.
However, this didn’t detract from the performance for me. There was some very effective spotlight type lighting that worked particularly well during the last section when the dancers were in black costumes with black paint on their skin. They were, at some points, simply dark and sinister shapes moving around the stage.
This show is probably not for everyone as it is intensely hard hitting and there is certainly no glitz or glamour about it but if you are willing to be open minded and are looking for something different, you will find it here!
The show is on tour so if you live anywhere near The Marlow Theatre, Canterbury, the Brighton Dome, Nottingham Playhouse, The Lowry at Salford Quays, The New Theatre Hull, The Theatre Royal Newcastle, or the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh, then take the opportunity to experience something very unusual and compelling.
